Cadillac F1 Announces Leadership Change Ahead of Dutch Grand Prix

Cadillac F1 has made a surprising leadership change, appointing Marcin Budkowski as the new team principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon, just over a week before the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. This decision was announced at 3pm UK time, marking a significant shift for the team in the midst of its inaugural Formula 1 season.

Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss explained that while Lowdon was instrumental during the team's early development, a transition was necessary for the next phase. Although the change was planned, the timing was unexpected, occurring during the summer break and earlier than originally intended. Lowdon was informed of the decision only on the morning of the announcement.

Budkowski, who has extensive experience in various F1 roles, is expected to address internal communication issues and enhance the team's performance. Towriss emphasized the importance of utilizing General Motors' resources, particularly in artificial intelligence, to improve the team's competitiveness. Budkowski's role will involve balancing immediate performance needs with long-term strategic goals as Cadillac aims to solidify its presence in Formula 1.
