Caleb Durbin Undergoes Surgery on Left Pinky
Caleb Durbin, an infielder for the Boston Red Sox, recently underwent a PIP joint reconstruction procedure on his left pinky. This surgery follows a partial dislocation of the same finger that occurred during a game against the Rockies in June.
Despite the injury, Durbin did not miss any games during the season and participated in the Wild Card Series against the Yankees, where he played third base. Over the course of the season, he demonstrated strong defensive skills, earning +13 Defensive Runs Saved and +7 Outs Above Average, while also contributing offensively with a batting line of .248/.332/.378, 13 home runs, and 20 stolen bases.
The decision to delay surgery until the offseason was made as the injury was not deemed severe. Following the Red Sox's elimination from the postseason, Durbin began the necessary appointments for his pinky. Although no specific recovery timeline was provided, he is anticipated to be ready for Spring Training. Durbin remains under team control through 2031, providing the Red Sox with a solid infield option for the upcoming season.
