Calgary Flames to Honor Saddledome with Special Jersey Patch in Final Season

The Calgary Flames are preparing to celebrate their final season at the Saddledome during 2026-27 by wearing special patches on their jerseys.

The patches will display the years 1983 and 2027, highlighting the duration of the team's presence at the arena. Additionally, the design includes the nickname 'the Dome' and the phrase 'farewell season' beneath it. The shape of the patch is inspired by the banners in the arena, while the upper border reflects the Saddledome's distinctive roofline.

A new arena, Scotia Place, is set to open in the fall of 2027, ahead of the 2027-28 NHL season. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has noted that the new venue will be significantly larger and equipped with more amenities than the Saddledome. Scotia Place will also host several games for the World Cup of Hockey in February 2028.
