Cam Skattebo's Role Reduced in Giants' Loss to Saints
In Week 6, Cam Skattebo was completely excluded from the New York Giants' offense during their 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Following a series of fumbles this season, Skattebo lost his starting position to Najee Harris, and despite expectations of some involvement, he did not receive any carries or targets in the game.
This marked the first time in Skattebo's career that he was active but did not record any touches, as he played only six snaps. After the game, Skattebo expressed surprise at his lack of involvement, acknowledging the need to continue working hard. Head coach John Harbaugh clarified that Skattebo's absence from the rushing attack was not intentional, stating that the game plan did not call for runs when he was on the field.
The Giants' running game struggled overall, finishing with 20 carries for 84 yards. The team's rushing efforts were led by Tyrone Tracy Jr., who had six carries, while Devin Singletary and Najee Harris each had four. Skattebo's demotion is attributed to his fumbling issues, including a critical fumble in a previous game against the Washington Commanders. The Giants will face the Houston Texans in Week 7 before their bye week.
