Cameron Young Shoots 61 to Join Lead at Rocket Classic
Cameron Young achieved a remarkable 9-under-par 61 during the second round of the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club, placing him in a tie for the lead with Patrick Cantlay and Patrick Fishburn.
Young started the day eight shots behind after Peter Malnati's opening round of 61. His impressive back-nine performance, which included seven birdies, brought his total to 10-under 130 at the halfway point of the tournament.
Cantlay and Fishburn both shot 66 after earlier rounds of 64, putting them one stroke ahead of Rickie Fowler, who recorded a 68, and Matt Wallace, who shot 64. Young, who has already secured victories at The Players Championship and the Cadillac Championship this year, is currently third in the FedEx Cup standings. Cantlay aims to improve his position from 43rd to 21st, while Fishburn seeks to rise from 146th to 61st in points. The cut line was projected at 3 under par, with several notable players at risk of missing it.
