Cameron Young Ties Course Record at Rocket Classic

Cameron Young achieved a remarkable performance at the Rocket Classic in Detroit, tying the course record with a score of 61 during the second round. Young birdied seven of his first eight holes and finished the round bogey-free, bringing his total to 10 under for the tournament, which placed him in a tie with Patrick Cantlay and Patrick Fishburn.

Despite his impressive score, Young expressed disappointment over missed birdie opportunities that could have allowed him to break the PGA Tour record of 58. He previously shot a 59 at the Travelers Championship in 2024 and aimed to join Jim Furyk as one of the few players with multiple sub-60 rounds.

Rickie Fowler, who briefly led the tournament at 11 under, fell back after encountering difficulties on the back nine, finishing two shots behind the leaders. Other notable players included Matt Wallace and Hideki Matsuyama, with Matsuyama extending his streak of consecutive cuts made to 30. The Rocket Classic, now in its final year, attracted a competitive field, with several prominent players missing the cut.
