Cameroon Secures First Women's Africa Cup of Nations Title with 3-0 Win Over Malawi
Cameroon achieved a historic milestone by winning their first Women's Africa Cup of Nations title, defeating Malawi 3-0 in the final held in Rabat, Morocco.
Marie Ngah Manga opened the scoring with a header in the 20th minute, followed by Naomi Eto's stunning volley that doubled the lead at the half-hour mark. Just before halftime, Ngah Manga scored again, assisted by Eto, to secure a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Malawi, the lowest-ranked team in the tournament, had reached the final thanks to the performance of the Chawinga sisters, but they struggled against Cameroon's strong defense. Despite a missed opportunity for Ngah Manga to complete her hat-trick and a couple of chances for Malawi, the match ended with Cameroon celebrating their victory and earning $2 million in prize money. Both teams will participate in the 2027 Women's FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
