Canada Secures Two Judo Golds and Silver in Decathlon at Commonwealth Games

At the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Canada celebrated a successful day on Friday, winning two gold medals in judo and a silver in the men's decathlon, part of an eight-medal total.

Evelyn Beaton from Lethbridge claimed gold in the women's 52-kilogram judo final by defeating Sofia Asvesta of Cyprus. Julien Frascadore from Beauport followed suit, winning gold in the men's 66-kilogram final against defending champion Georgios Balarjishvili, also from Cyprus, in a dramatic golden score.

In the decathlon, Damian Warner secured silver after finishing second to Lindon Victor of Grenada, who won his third consecutive title. Warner's performance included a season-best javelin throw, but he ultimately finished with 8,036 points. Canada also earned bronze medals in race walking and boxing, concluding the day with a total of 53 medals, placing third overall behind Australia and England.
