Canadian Teenagers Shine at CPKC Women's Open
At the CPKC Women’s Open in Edmonton, Canadian teenagers Anna Huang and Michelle Xing showcased their talent by both finishing the first round with scores of 5-under 65 at Royal Mayfair Golf Club.
Huang, 17, began her round on the back nine and reached 2 under before adding three birdies, while Xing, 18, was 5 under after 12 holes but had a bogey on the 6th before regaining her momentum with a birdie on the next hole. Huang noted the challenge of mosquitoes during her round, while Xing expressed her desire to make the cut at this national event.
They trail early leader Miyu Yamashita, who set a course record with a score of 62, just one shot shy of the tournament's 18-hole low score. Yamashita, who had previously missed the cut at the AIG Women’s Open, has had a strong season with multiple top-5 finishes.
