Canucks Coach Provides Update on Thatcher Demko's Recovery
The Vancouver Canucks have shared an update regarding their goaltender Thatcher Demko, who is recovering from hip surgery. Head coach Manny Malhotra spoke to the media on Monday about Demko's status.
Malhotra stated that there are no concerns about Demko potentially missing the 2026-27 season. He noted that while Demko's recovery is progressing slowly, he is showing daily improvement. Demko was seen at practice, observing from the bench, although he has taken some time off the ice recently.
Demko, who signed a three-year contract extension worth $25.5 million in July 2025, had a record of 8-10-1 last season, with a save percentage of .897 and a goals-against average of 2.90. The Canucks, currently with a 2-7-1 record this season, are set to face the Carolina Hurricanes at home on Tuesday.
