Cape Verde's Vozinha Allowed to Wear Nickname on Colo Colo Shirt

The Chilean Football Federation (ANFP) has approved an exemption for Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, allowing him to wear his nickname on his shirt while playing for Colo Colo. The 40-year-old signed a six-month contract with the Chilean club after gaining recognition for his performances at the World Cup.

Typically, league regulations require players to use their legal names on jerseys, but Colo Colo successfully obtained permission for Vozinha to use his nickname, which translates to 'granny' in Portuguese. Vozinha expressed that this name holds significant personal and cultural meaning for him.

Vozinha, who recently arrived in Santiago and joined his new teammates for training, became a notable figure during the World Cup, helping Cape Verde secure their first-ever point against Spain. His social media following surged dramatically, and he was even named in FIFA's team of the tournament.
