The contract, which begins next season, has an average annual value of $6.35 million. General Manager Chris Patrick expressed confidence in Sourdif's potential, highlighting his steady development and versatility as a player.

Sourdif, acquired from Florida last offseason, recorded 15 goals and 20 assists in 78 games last season, with a notable performance in the latter half of the year. The Capitals now have over $111 million committed for the 2027-28 season, approaching the salary cap ceiling.
