Cardinals Activate Josh Sweat and Make Roster Changes
The Arizona Cardinals have activated pass rusher Josh Sweat from the active/physically unable to perform list, as announced by the team on Monday. This move allows Sweat to participate in upcoming practices in Green Bay later this week.
Prior to his activation, Sweat had been working out independently and did not take part in voluntary offseason activities. He had been on the PUP list due to knee rehabilitation stemming from a college injury. Additionally, the Cardinals waived running back Trey Benson, who has been dealing with a knee issue, and placed wide receiver Xavier Weaver on injured reserve following a hamstring injury sustained during a preseason game against the Cowboys.
In response to injuries within the secondary, the Cardinals signed safeties Hudson Clark and Devyn Bobby. The team also released tight end Baylor Cupp and wide receiver Bryson Green, leaving an open roster spot likely intended for a punter. Punter Blake Gillikin is sidelined with a groin injury and will not be available for the week.
