Cardinals Finalize Roster Moves, Place James Conner on IR
The Arizona Cardinals completed their roster adjustments on Sunday, reaching the required 53 players ahead of the season.
Among their key moves, running back James Conner was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, meaning he will be sidelined for at least the first four games as he recovers from an ankle injury sustained last season. The team also released linebacker BJ Ojulari, a second-round pick in 2023, who has struggled since suffering a knee injury during training camp in 2024.
Additionally, veteran cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting was released, indicating that slot starter Garrett Williams is close to returning after being removed from the active/PUP list following an Achilles injury. The Cardinals opted to keep three quarterbacks on the roster: Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew II, and Carson Beck. Other players released or waived include linebacker Eugene Asante, safety Devyn Bobby, and tight end Shawn Bowman, among others. Defensive lineman Zach Carter was also placed on IR with a knee issue, while tight end Tip Reiman will start the season on reserve/PUP.
