Cardinals Sign Josh Fleming and Re-Sign Bligh Madris
The St. Louis Cardinals have signed left-handed pitcher Josh Fleming to a minor league contract and have re-signed outfielder Bligh Madris, who will be assigned to Triple-A Memphis.
Fleming, a native of the St. Louis area, was previously with the Chicago Cubs but was released from his minor league deal this week. The 30-year-old has a 3.44 ERA from 18 1/3 innings in the Cubs' system and has experience in the major leagues, where he has a career ERA of 4.86 over 257 2/3 innings.
Madris returns to the Cardinals after a stint in the KBO, where he had a strong performance before struggling as an injury replacement. He had a batting line of .277/.389/.519 with 14 home runs in 284 plate appearances before his release.
