Carlos Alcaraz Set to Compete at US Open After Injury Layoff
Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish tennis star, has announced his return to competitive play at the US Open, which is set to take place from August 30 to September 13. This marks his comeback after a right wrist injury sidelined him since April.
Alcaraz's absence from the sport included major tournaments such as the French Open and Wimbledon, as well as hard-court events in Toronto and Cincinnati. Initially, he intended to return at Cincinnati but opted for additional recovery time. He has been gradually increasing his training intensity, recently practicing with fellow player Holger Rune.
Before his injury, Alcaraz had an impressive record of 22 wins and 3 losses this season, including a victory at the Australian Open and a title defense at the previous year's US Open, where he triumphed over Jannik Sinner. Despite missing several tournaments, he currently holds the No. 2 position in the ATP rankings.
