Carlos Sainz Extends Contract with Williams Until 2027
Carlos Sainz has secured a new multi-year contract with the Williams Formula One team, extending his stay until at least 2027. The 31-year-old driver initially joined Williams in 2025 after leaving Ferrari, aiming to contribute to the team's resurgence in the sport.
Despite a challenging period for Williams, which last won a constructors' championship in 1997, Sainz expressed his commitment to the team. His decision comes as team principal James Vowles acknowledged the difficulties faced this season, including issues with their new car. Williams currently sits ninth in the constructors' standings at the halfway point of the 2026 season.
Sainz's teammate, Alex Albon, has also signed a new one-year deal for 2027. Vowles praised Sainz's talent and leadership, emphasizing his crucial role in the team's ongoing efforts to improve performance and achieve their goals.
