Carlton Defender Lachie Cowan Faces Two-Match Suspension
Lachie Cowan, a defender for Carlton, is likely to receive a two-match suspension due to an incident last week that led to his hospitalization after he admitted to using illicit substances.
Cowan was treated and observed at the Alfred Hospital following a house party in South Yarra before being discharged. His teammate, Will Hayward, who was also present, denied any drug use but required hospital treatment for a head injury sustained in the shower.
While Cowan's suspension aligns with penalties previously given to players like Bailey Smith and Jack Ginnivan for similar offenses, Hayward is not expected to face any disciplinary action. Carlton has been collaborating with the AFL regarding this situation, with football boss Chris Davies indicating that they are providing necessary information to the league.
