Carlton Re-signs Irish Rookie Rob Monahan for 2027

Carlton Football Club has confirmed the re-signing of Irish player Rob Monahan, who has extended his contract for one more year, keeping him at Ikon Park until 2027.

Monahan joined the Blues at the end of 2023, coming from Ireland as a promising athletic talent. The 22-year-old has been a consistent performer in the club's VFL team, primarily playing in defense. He has participated in 39 games, although he faced challenges in 2026, managing only four matches due to a shoulder injury.

The club has expressed enthusiasm about Monahan's potential, highlighting his athleticism and versatility, as he has previously played Gaelic football for Kerry. The club's football boss noted his impressive recovery from injury and looks forward to his performance in the upcoming pre-season starting in November.
