Carolina Hurricanes Adjust Trade Offer for Connor Hellebuyck
The Carolina Hurricanes are exploring a new trade offer for goaltender Connor Hellebuyck that does not include defenseman Alexander Nikishin. This development was discussed by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas during a recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast.
Friedman noted that if Nikishin were part of the deal, it might have already been finalized. He mentioned that sources indicated Carolina has shifted its strategy and is now presenting a package that excludes Nikishin, who is currently an unsigned restricted free agent.
Nikishin, 25, completed a two-year entry-level contract and had a notable performance last season, scoring 11 goals and totaling 33 points in 81 games. He did not attend the Hurricanes' training camp after requesting a trade over the summer. Friedman suggested that Carolina's new offer reflects a significant change in their approach to acquiring Hellebuyck.
