Carson Branstine Reaches Final Round of US Open Qualifying
Carson Branstine has moved on to the final round of women's singles qualifying for the US Open, just one win away from her first main draw appearance.
The Canadian player achieved this milestone by defeating world No. 174 Linda Fruhvirtova from Czechia with a score of 6-4, 7-5. Branstine is set to compete against world No. 187 Robin Montgomery from the U.S. on Thursday.
At 25 years old and currently ranked 565th, Branstine had limited tour experience this year, having played only three matches prior to this week. She previously qualified for Wimbledon last year but was eliminated in the first round. In other qualifying news, Rebecca Marino from Canada was defeated by Russia's Elena Pridankina.
