Casey Mize Injured in Dugout Incident During Padres Game
Casey Mize, a right-handed pitcher for the San Diego Padres, left his game on Saturday after injuring his ankle while descending the dugout steps. This incident occurred during his start against the Minnesota Twins, which the Padres won 7-5.
Mize sprained his right ankle while navigating the steps between the second and third innings. Although he attempted to continue pitching after having his ankle taped, he was unable to finish the third inning. He allowed four runs and three home runs in 2 ⅔ innings, bringing his ERA with the Padres to 7.00 after four starts.
Imaging on Mize's ankle returned negative results, and he is currently classified as day-to-day. Prior to joining the Padres, he had a successful stint with the Tigers, posting a 2.70 ERA over 16 starts. The Padres, managed by Craig Stammen, are currently in third place for the NL wild-card spot with a record of 70-60 and have performed well in August with a 14-6 record.
