Cavaliers Continue Search for Trade Partner for Max Strus
The Cleveland Cavaliers are still looking to trade Max Strus, despite having recently reached a deal to send Dennis Schröder to Charlotte. According to Marc Stein, the team is in search of a new destination for Strus, who has a $16.7 million expiring contract for the 2026/27 season.
In the Schröder trade, the Cavaliers saved approximately $6.8 million by exchanging his $14.8 million salary for Tre Mann's $8 million. However, the team is seeking additional financial flexibility to re-sign James Harden and pursue free agents like Peyton Watson from the Nuggets or Jonathan Kuminga from the Hawks.
Strus, known for his 37% shooting from beyond the arc, is seen as a valuable asset for teams needing outside shooting. He played only 12 games last season due to foot surgery but contributed significantly in the playoffs, averaging 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds over 18 games.
Reports indicate that Harden's new multiyear contract is expected to be finalized soon, following his decision to decline a $42.3 million player option in late June.
