Ceferin Criticizes Infantino's World Cup Stake Sale Proposal

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has voiced strong opposition to Fifa president Gianni Infantino's recent proposal to sell a stake in the World Cup, labeling it as more detrimental than the Super League initiative. This statement follows Fifa's decision to abandon the plan to create a new company, Fifa Forward Enterprise, which aimed to manage commercial rights for Fifa competitions.

Ceferin noted that Uefa had no prior knowledge of Infantino's intentions and expressed disappointment over the lack of communication from him. He emphasized that the football community would not permit the sport to be sold off, asserting that football belongs to everyone.

Infantino, who previously worked at Uefa, has been seeking support globally, recently meeting with members of the Caribbean Football Union and attending the E-Sports World Cup in Paris. Meanwhile, Ceferin confirmed he would not run for Fifa president in the upcoming Congress, citing his commitment to Uefa and a desire to enjoy life.
