Cejudo Warns PFL's Future at Risk Without Nurmagomedov

Henry Cejudo has stated that the Professional Fighters League (PFL) could face significant challenges if Usman Nurmagomedov leaves for free agency. Nurmagomedov's contract ended following his knockout victory over Archie Colgan at PFL New York in July, making him a sought-after free agent.

Cejudo mentioned on the Pound-4-Pound podcast that Nurmagomedov declined a two million dollar per fight offer from the PFL, potentially earning between three to four million per fight from the UFC or MVP. He outlined two options for Nurmagomedov: accepting a lower offer from the UFC for a title shot or signing a long-term deal with MVP for financial security.

Cejudo emphasized the critical nature of Nurmagomedov's presence in the PFL, suggesting that his departure would be disastrous for the organization. He ranks Nurmagomedov among the top three lightweights globally and believes he poses a significant challenge to Justin Gaethje. Nurmagomedov's future remains uncertain, especially after a recent incident at UFC Shanghai involving his brother.
