Celebrating Jerry Rice's 64th Birthday and NFL Legacy
Today marks the 64th birthday of Jerry Rice, a legendary wide receiver known for his remarkable achievements in the NFL, including being a 10-time First-Team All-Pro and a three-time Super Bowl champion.
Drafted in 1985 by the San Francisco 49ers, Rice made an immediate impact as a rookie, recording 49 receptions for 927 yards and three touchdowns. Over the next 11 seasons, he consistently surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and eight touchdowns each year, leading the league in both categories six times.
Rice's contributions helped the 49ers secure three Super Bowl victories, during which he amassed 28 receptions for 512 yards and seven touchdowns. His record of 215 receiving yards in Super Bowl XXIII remains unmatched. After a successful 16-year tenure with the 49ers, he played for the Raiders and Seahawks, retiring in 2004. Even after his retirement, Rice holds the records for the most receiving yards (22,895), receptions (1,549), and touchdown catches (197) in NFL history.
