Celebrating Jim Thome's 56th Birthday and His MLB Legacy

Jim Thome, a notable figure in Major League Baseball, celebrates his 56th birthday today. Thome is recognized for his impressive career, which includes being a five-time All-Star and a member of the exclusive 500 home run club.

Drafted in the 13th round by the Cleveland Indians in 1989, Thome made his MLB debut in September 1991. He hit his first home run during his rookie season and became a regular player by 1995, hitting 20 home runs that year. Over his career, he led the American League in walks three times and was known for his striking power, hitting over 47 home runs in consecutive seasons from 2001 to 2003.

Thome played 22 seasons with six teams, primarily with Cleveland, where he set a franchise record with 52 home runs in 2002. He retired in 2012 with a total of 612 home runs and was inducted into the Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018. Today, he is one of 28 players in MLB history to reach the 500 home run milestone.
