Chad Green Retires from Major League Baseball
Chad Green, a former right-handed reliever for the New York Yankees, has officially retired from Major League Baseball, concluding a ten-season career that included a final year with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 35-year-old made his retirement known in an interview, stating that he had called it quits in early April. After being designated for assignment by the Blue Jays in 2025, he continued to train in hopes of receiving a new offer, but nothing came to fruition.
Green did not pitch in 2026 and was released by the Blue Jays after clearing waivers. He had a successful tenure with the Yankees, where he recorded a 3.17 ERA and 494 strikeouts over seven seasons. Following an elbow injury in 2022 and subsequent surgery, he signed with Toronto but faced challenges in his final season. As he moves on from baseball, Green plans to focus on spending time with his family.
