Chad le Clos, a prominent South African swimmer, announced that his apartment in Sea Point, Cape Town, was destroyed by a fire that occurred shortly after he achieved a historic milestone at the Commonwealth Games.

The fire broke out on the evening of July 30, the same night le Clos secured his 21st medal, surpassing Emma McKeon to become the most decorated athlete in Commonwealth Games history. Tragically, the blaze resulted in the death of a 93-year-old neighbor.

In his social media post, le Clos expressed his sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the victim's family. He also initiated a fundraising campaign to support fellow residents affected by the fire, emphasizing the strength of their community during this difficult time.
