Chadwick Tromp Becomes a Free Agent After Waivers

Chadwick Tromp has opted for free agency after the Baltimore Orioles announced he went unclaimed on outright waivers. This decision follows his designation for assignment last week.

With Narváez expected to serve as the primary catcher while Samuel Basallo recovers from shoulder inflammation, Tromp's situation differs as he must clear waivers to return to the minor leagues. Over the past seasons, he has played a depth role with the Braves and Orioles, appearing in 21 games this year with a batting average of .163. Despite his offensive struggles, he is valued for his defensive skills and rapport with pitchers, which may lead to a return to one of his former teams on a minor league contract.
