Charles Leclerc Discusses Ferrari's Strategy at Dutch GP Sprint
Charles Leclerc expressed his concerns regarding Ferrari's choice of soft tyres for the Dutch GP sprint at Zandvoort, despite the team's generally strong race pace. He noted that qualifying remains a challenge for Ferrari, which he described as a weakness that cannot be easily addressed at this circuit.
During the sprint race, Leclerc managed to overtake Lando Norris, finishing in second place. His successful pass occurred on lap 18, a notable achievement given that he was one of only two drivers to start on soft tyres. Leclerc acknowledged that his decision was based on practice data and the team's confidence in tyre degradation.
Leclerc admitted to feeling apprehensive on the grid as most competitors opted for medium tyres. He emphasized that the tyre choice was a collaborative decision with the team, although it was not straightforward due to differing strategies among drivers. Despite the challenges in qualifying, Leclerc secured third on the grid, just behind George Russell, and remains hopeful for future races.
