Charles Leclerc Dominates Friday Practice at F1 United States GP
Charles Leclerc of Ferrari excelled in Friday practice for the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, finishing first in both FP1 and FP2 sessions held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
During the second practice session, Leclerc clocked a time of 1m35.291s, surpassing Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli, who finished second and third, respectively. The challenging circuit conditions, characterized by a mix of low-speed and high-downforce corners, posed difficulties for teams as they sought optimal setups.
George Russell briefly led with a medium-tyre benchmark before Leclerc's impressive performance on soft tyres. The top three drivers created a noticeable gap ahead of the rest of the field, with Lewis Hamilton finishing fourth and Russell in fifth. McLaren faced grip issues, leaving their drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, in seventh and eighth places.
