Charles Leclerc Reflects on Missed Opportunities Against Max Verstappen at Singapore GP
During the Singapore Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc recognized that he missed opportunities to overtake Max Verstappen, despite having a strong start. Leclerc had the inside line for Turn 1 but opted not to push for the lead, as Verstappen was on the more advantageous racing line.
Leclerc noted that he could not see crucial braking markers while racing alongside Verstappen, which influenced his decision-making. He later admitted that he let another chance slip by a few laps into the race when Verstappen experienced deployment issues, which he initially thought were isolated incidents.
Despite these missed opportunities, Leclerc acknowledged that Verstappen's pace was formidable, and he ultimately finished second, marking his first podium since the summer break and his fifth of the season. Leclerc expressed satisfaction with his performance, although he felt they were still slightly behind Red Bull's pace.
