Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward has opted to wear a Guardian Cap during games to help prevent concussions, particularly after expressing that he might retire if he suffers another one following the 2025 season.

Ward decided to try the cap during the Week 1 game against the Ravens, stating that he felt comfortable wearing it throughout the game. Despite experiencing a headache afterward, he noted that he was unsure if the cap made a difference but acknowledged the risks associated with playing football.

The Guardian Cap is designed to provide additional cushioning during low-impact hits, although its effectiveness against more severe impacts remains uncertain. The NFL's stance on the cap has evolved, allowing players to wear it during games despite initial restrictions.
