Chase Bisontis Faces Surgery After Injury in Preseason Game
Chase Bisontis, a rookie offensive guard for the Arizona Cardinals, sustained a significant injury during a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, which the Cardinals won 27-14. The injury occurred in the third quarter when a Raiders defender fell on Bisontis's left knee during a play.
Trainers assisted him off the field, and he was unable to put weight on his injured leg, ultimately leaving the game on a cart. Following the match, head coach Mike LaFleur indicated that further tests were needed, but the initial outlook was not promising. Subsequent examinations confirmed that Bisontis had torn his MCL, necessitating surgery next week, although other ligaments, including the ACL, were reported to be intact.
Bisontis, selected 34th overall from Texas A&M, had shown promise during training camp and was competing for a starting position. His recovery from the surgery is expected to take at least three months, making a return this season unlikely. The injury adds to the challenges faced by the Cardinals' rookie class and leaves a gap in the offensive line, with Isaiah Adams likely stepping in as the starter.
