Chase Briscoe Secures Pole Position for YellaWood 500 at Talladega
Chase Briscoe from Joe Gibbs Racing has claimed the pole position for the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, starting from the front for the second consecutive year.
The 31-year-old driver achieved a top speed of 186.065 mph during Saturday's time trials, making it the fastest pole speed at the track since 2021, surpassing the previous record by 3 mph. Briscoe, currently third in the championship standings, is just 24 points behind leader Kyle Larson with three races left in the season.
Briscoe's performance was particularly significant as he edged out Austin Hill of Richard Childress Racing by a mere .032 seconds. This pole position is vital for team morale, and Briscoe noted the importance of the details that contribute to their success. Trackhouse Racing's Connor Zilisch and Shane Van Gisbergen will start in third and fourth, respectively, while Chris Buescher and Christopher Bell will begin in fifth and sixth.
