Chase Carey Reveals New York Considered for F1 Grand Prix
Chase Carey, the former CEO of Formula 1, has shared that New York was one of three cities evaluated for a grand prix race in the United States following Liberty Media's takeover, with Miami and Las Vegas being the other two locations.
Carey, who led F1 from 2017 until 2021, participated in a panel at the Autosport Business Exchange in New York, where he emphasized the importance of expanding F1's presence in the U.S. He noted that iconic locations were essential for the sport's growth and acknowledged that while New York was a consideration, it was deemed unlikely to materialize.
Miami was added to the F1 calendar in 2022, followed by Las Vegas in 2023. Both cities have secured long-term contracts, ensuring Miami's place in the calendar until at least 2041 and Las Vegas until 2037.
