Chelsea Co-Owners Discuss Selling Shares to Clearlake Capital
Todd Boehly and Mark Walter, co-owners of Chelsea, have engaged in discussions regarding the sale of their shares to Clearlake Capital, the club's majority owner, which holds 61.5 percent of the team.
Boehly and Walter each own a 12.8 percent stake in Chelsea. Clearlake, led by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, effectively manages the club, although Boehly serves as chairman. The consortium that purchased Chelsea four years ago was spearheaded by Boehly in a deal valued at £2.5 billion.
There have been ongoing tensions between Boehly and Clearlake, particularly regarding managerial decisions, including the departure of head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea's leadership is currently evaluating options for the future of Stamford Bridge, including potential relocation or expansion, amid challenges posed by limited space in London.
