Martinez's representatives have approached Chelsea, where current goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has faced criticism for his performance in a recent match against Fulham.

Martinez, who has played 256 matches for Aston Villa since joining from Arsenal in 2020, is looking for a new club after Villa's acquisition of Suzuki. Previously, he was a target for Juventus, but they opted to sign Guglielmo Vicario instead.
