Chelsea Sets £120m Deadline for Enzo Fernandez Transfers
Chelsea has announced a deadline of 17:00 BST on Friday for clubs to submit offers of £120m or more for midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The 25-year-old Argentine has been uncertain about his future at Stamford Bridge since March, when he expressed interest in a move to Real Madrid.
Fernandez's agent previously indicated that the player felt underpaid and desired a transfer following a challenging season for Chelsea, which ended with a 10th place finish in the Premier League and no trophies. Real Madrid has since stated they have no plans to pursue Fernandez, leaving Manchester City as the only known interested party.
Chelsea is firm on their £120m asking price, despite having signed Fernandez for £107m from Benfica in 2023. New manager Xabi Alonso has discussed Fernandez's future with him, emphasizing the club's willingness to reintegrate him into the squad. Fernandez recently returned to training under Alonso after a season where he scored 15 goals and assisted seven times in 54 matches.
