Chess Historians Gather in Copenhagen for Annual Meeting
The Chess History & Literature Society (CH&LS) convened its annual meeting on August 28-29 at Skakkens Hus in Copenhagen, marking a return to the Nordic region after previous meetings in Italy, France, and Hungary.
The event featured eight presentations with a strong focus on Nordic chess history. Notable speakers included Morten Lilleøren, who discussed the historical journey of chess to Europe, and Dr. Michael Negele, who explored the role of artificial intelligence in chess history research.
The conference also highlighted the society's membership, which includes 4 honorary members and 80 regular members, with efforts to increase diversity among participants. The meeting concluded with plans for the next conference in Leipzig in 2027, coinciding with the German Chess Federation's 150th anniversary.
