Chicago Bears Activate Kyler Gordon and Release Safety Xavier Woods Ahead of Falcons Game
The Chicago Bears have made several roster changes before their Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons, most notably activating cornerback Kyler Gordon. After a lengthy recovery from a calf injury, Gordon is set to return to the field, providing a boost to the Bears' defense.
Gordon's activation follows a 21-day practice window that began on September 30, during which he participated fully in practices. Despite his return, the coaching staff plans to manage his playing time carefully in his first game back. In addition to Gordon's activation, the Bears placed defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo on injured reserve due to a quad injury, which will sideline him for four weeks.
In a surprising move, the Bears also released veteran safety Xavier Woods, who had been a starter in the secondary. This decision comes after a challenging performance against the Green Bay Packers. To fill the roster spot, the team signed defensive back Nick McCloud from the practice squad. Other adjustments include elevating Buddy Johnson at linebacker and Zavier Scott at running back due to injuries affecting the team.
