Chicago Bears' Luther Burden III Out with Groin Injury
The Chicago Bears faced a challenging situation during practice on Saturday when wide receiver Luther Burden III sustained a groin injury. This incident occurred during a one-on-one drill in the red zone, leading to Burden being escorted gingerly to the locker room by trainers.
Reports indicate that Burden is anticipated to be sidelined for approximately a month, with the team hoping he can return in time for the regular season opener against the Carolina Panthers on September 13. With DJ Moore now in Buffalo, Burden was expected to play a key role in the receiving corps alongside Rome Odunze. In his absence, Zavion Thomas and Jahdae Walker are likely to see increased playing time.
Despite the setback of missing the entire preseason, the Bears remain optimistic about Burden's potential. Head coach Ben Johnson previously expressed confidence in Burden's development, noting his impressive offseason performance and coachability. In his rookie season, Burden recorded 47 receptions for 652 yards and two touchdowns, ranking third among wide receivers in yards per route run.
