Chicago Bears Release Cornerback Jaylon Jones Amid Roster Changes

The Chicago Bears have made a roster change by parting ways with cornerback Jaylon Jones through an injury settlement, which has removed him from injured reserve. This decision comes as the team prepares for their 2026 opening-day lineup.

Jones, who joined the Bears in 2022, primarily played as a nickel defender and contributed on special teams. His release is notable given the ongoing uncertainty at the cornerback position, particularly with Kyler Gordon sidelined due to a lingering injury.

Gordon, who signed a three-year, $40 million extension last offseason, has been placed on the physically unable to perform list and will miss at least the first four games of the regular season. The Bears are now evaluating other options for the nickel corner position, including Clark Phillips III and rookie Malik Muhammad, while veteran Cam Lewis also remains a candidate.
