Chicago Bears Release Jamree Kromah to Make Room for Jeffery Simmons
The Chicago Bears announced the release of defensive end Jamree Kromah on Thursday to create space on their roster for newly acquired defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.
Kromah, who had shown promise during the preseason with three sacks and multiple tackles, appeared in only two regular-season games, recording two tackles while filling in for suspended player Montez Sweat. The Bears, currently second in the NFC North with a 5-2 record, traded for Simmons, sending first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a fourth-round pick in 2027, to the Tennessee Titans.
Simmons, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, has had a strong season with four sacks and 38 tackles. He is set to make his debut with the Bears against the Seattle Seahawks. Kromah, who went undrafted in 2024, is now a free agent and may attract interest from teams looking for depth on the defensive line.
