The Chicago Bears have added defensive back Anthony Johnson Jr. to their practice squad ahead of the 2026 season opener. The 26-year-old player was signed following his earlier stint with the team after a tryout at rookie minicamp.

Johnson, who was originally a seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers, had a brief tenure with the Bears during the preseason, where he recorded seven tackles in three games before being waived. His return comes after the Bears released safety Marlen Sewell from the practice squad.

Standing at 6 feet and weighing 205 pounds, Johnson has experience playing both safety and slot corner, making him a versatile addition to the team. His familiarity with the Bears' system could be beneficial, especially as the team deals with injuries in the secondary.
