Chicago Bears Sign Marcus Davenport and Deantre Prince, Waive Two Players
The Chicago Bears have officially added defensive lineman Marcus Davenport and defensive back Deantre Prince to their roster. This announcement comes alongside the decision to waive running back Coleman Bennett and tight end Nikola Kalinic, who was waived with an injury designation.
Marcus Davenport, 29, was originally selected by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year rookie contract worth $13.741 million, which included an $8.074 million signing bonus. The Saints exercised his fifth-year option for the 2022 season, guaranteeing him $9.553 million.
After testing free agency for the first time, Davenport signed a one-year, $13 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings but was placed on injured reserve in October 2023 after participating in just four games. He had previously signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions worth $6.5 million, which could reach $10.5 million, but faced a significant elbow injury after two games last season.
