Chicago Bears Sign Xavier Woods, Place Dallis Flowers on IR

The Chicago Bears have added 10-year veteran safety Xavier Woods to their roster and placed cornerback Dallis Flowers on injured reserve due to injury issues.

This decision follows an injury to safety Bryant during a practice drill on August 3, which resulted in a hyperextension, bone bruise, and a small fracture, sidelining him for 8-10 weeks. The Bears had recently signed Bryant to a three-year, $40 million contract to replace Kevin Byard.

Xavier Woods, who has played 134 career games with notable teams including the Cowboys and Vikings, brings experience and reliability to the Bears' secondary. His signing is seen as a necessary move to bolster the team’s depth while Bryant recovers. Flowers, who suffered a noncontact leg injury during practice, had previously dealt with significant injuries, including an Achilles tear.
