Chicago Cubs Face Injury Setback as Matt Shaw Remains Sidelined
The Chicago Cubs are experiencing a successful stretch in their season, yet they are missing a key player, Matt Shaw, who is sidelined due to a left-hand sprain. This injury has kept him on the 10-day injured list since late June, marking his second injury absence this year.
Manager Craig Counsell provided an update indicating that Shaw is still several weeks away from returning, as he struggles with full-speed swings. Although there has been no setback in his recovery, the process is taking longer than anticipated.
Despite Shaw's absence, the Cubs have performed well, winning five consecutive games and remaining competitive in the National League Central race. Rookie Pedro Ramírez has stepped up significantly, boasting a .300 batting average and an .800 OPS over 43 games. The team also acquired outfielder Tyrone Taylor to enhance their roster flexibility. While the Cubs have managed to win without Shaw, his return is eagerly awaited as they aim for postseason contention.
