Chiefs Waive Chris Oladokun and Release Emmanuel Ogbah as Roster Finalized
The Kansas City Chiefs have completed their initial 53-man roster, which does not include quarterback Chris Oladokun, who was waived with an injury designation on Sunday.
If unclaimed, Oladokun will revert to injured reserve and will not be eligible to play this season unless he is released with an injury settlement. He started the last two games of the previous season and has been part of the team since 2022. Patrick Mahomes will have Justin Fields and Garrett Nussmeier as his backups this season.
Additionally, the Chiefs announced the release of defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, who previously played for the team in 2019 and had recently re-signed. Other players released include linebacker Cole Christiansen and cornerbacks Kaiir Elam and Kader Kohou. Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott remains on the physically unable to perform list, while wide receiver Jimmy Holiday has been placed on injured reserve.
